High school football updated schedules for Sept. 3

Due to damage in Louisiana from Hurricane Ida, Bowling Green will be unable to make to the trip to Brookhaven this Friday to play Brookhaven Academy. The Cougars are looking for another opponent.

Ethel has forfeited its game against the Enterprise Yellow Jackets on Friday due to a COVID-19 outbreak. It’s not clear if the Jackets are going to find another opponent, but they’ve missed half the week with the Lincoln County School District closed Aug. 30 and 31 due to power outages after Hurricane Ida.

Not that anyone listens to me, but Brookhaven Academy and Enterprise ought to play a game! An MHSAA-MAIS crossover in Lincoln County would be sweet.

Amite County’s game at Wilkinson County has been cancelled. The Trojans will resume play when they welcome Leake County to Liberty on Sept. 10.

Brookhaven had to forfeit in Week One and has a bye week for Sept. 3. They play the Tylertown Chiefs in Tylertown on Thursday, Sept. 9.

McComb was set to host Tylertown this Friday but the game is cancelled. No word on whether or not COVID-19 is involved, but the more likely explanation is McComb is unable to get the team together due to widespread power outage and damage in Pike County after Hurricane Ida. Tylertown picked up a game in West Marion on Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Hazlehurst Indians remain on a virtual learning schedule and will forfeit their second consecutive game, this time against Wingfield.

South Pike is also on a virtual schedule for the second week and will be forced to forfeit their second consecutive game, this one against Harrison Central.
