Lifetime of work by leading local artist on display this weekend

Dr. Kim Sessums. He makes art.

Wait. Let me begin again.

Brookhaven’s Dr. J. Kim Sessums is an artist of great renown – a well-rounded creator who works in bronze, oils, pastels and more. His work has been recognized locally, regionally and even nationally.

For the first time, his life’s work is going on public display. The Mississippi School of the Arts presents “A Forty Year Retrospective of Art by J. Kim Sessums,” featuring various pieces of art throughout the doctor’s career. It goes on display Thursday, Friday and Saturday – March 2, 3 and 4 – at the Enochs Hall Art Gallery from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Check out the exhibit and hang around to catch the MSA dance department’s Spring Dance Concert each night at 7 p.m.

Admission to both events is free. For more information, call MSA at 601-823-1300.

Adam on the left, God on the right, Dr. Sessums somewhere in the pile of naked angels (which is, of course, the place to be).
