Motown Music & Magic at the Senior Adult Prom 2016
Monday, February 22nd was a wet & rainy day in Southwest Mississippi. However, that did NOT deter over 160 of the young at heart from flooding the FEMA building on Belt Line in Brookhaven as they moved & grooved to the hits of the Motown era.
First things first. What’s a good dance without a good picture to remember it by? Photography was the initial stop for attendees as they had their pictures taken. Pictures are available now for pickup at the Jimmy Furlow Senior Center in downtown Brookhaven.
Dance groups the Camellia Line Dancers, the Dancing Stars, the Good Time Dancers, & the KDMC Fitness Class took the stage to perform throughout the afternoon. The Junior Choral Class of Mississippi School of the Arts also performed singing some of Motown’s most recognizable melodies.
Brookhaven Broadcasting & Majic 104’s own Hampton Sims served as Master of Ceremonies for the afternoon. The event was called by some attendees as the best Senior Adult Prom to date since it began in our area some six or so years ago.
Past kings & queens were in attendance, & the Senior Adult Prom King & Queen were crowned for 2016. As the age old event reports have said for decades, “…fun was had by all,” (as can be clearly seen in the pictures).
Thanks to Kail Garrett of the Jimmy Furlow Center & her amazing team of community volunteers, Terry Reid & the Brookhaven Parks & Recreation Department, & many corporate sponsors who donated money, time, & door prizes.
