BARL’s “Cat’s Meow” rummage sale next Saturday
The Brookhaven Animal Rescue League’s fifth-annual Cat’s Meow rummage sale will begin Saturday, March 5, at 7 a.m. The event is going down at the former Hudson’s building at Lincoln Plaza Shopping Center at 204 Highway 51 North in Brookhaven. Admission to the fundraiser is free, but for $5 shoppers can get first dibs at a paid admission special shopping spree the night before at 5:30 p.m.
“Anyone shopping Friday night will get a chance at the best items,” said BARL volunteer Rusty Adcock. “The admission price should help us raise some money for our animals.”
Just in case anyone doesn’t know, BARL is a volunteer animal welfare organization that adopts out shelter animals and works to promote pet awareness issues in the community. They have great animals up for adoption, and all BARL animals are vet-checked, vaccinated, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped.
If you don’t want to shop at the sale but still want to contribute to BARL, you can donate items for the rummage sale. Donations of furniture, household items, tools and other items of value can be donated to the sale by contacting Julie Montalvo at 601-757-1057. They can arrange pickup of bigger items if necessary. Other items can be dropped off at the BARL adoption center from Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We’ve got excited volunteers ready to sort and price items,” Adcock said. “We hope people will start their spring cleaning a little early and donate some items for the sale. Every penny we make from the sale goes directly toward animal care.”
